A mid-July sunny day was made for an urban hike from home. The first stop was Council Crest, the highest spot in Portland. From there it was an adventure, following SW Urban Trail 6 on the south side of the ridge before heading down the hill on the Marquam Trail. Soon I was on the Waterfront.
What a change of pace. Now I was heading north by the Marina and the myriads of people walking, running and bicycling. After stopping by the Saturday Market, I headed into the Pearl District (a good example of urban renewal), over to 23rd (another fun community) and up the hill to home.
It was an enjoyable outing – – – 11 miles and 1,500 feet of elevation gain.
