After a few days of below freezing temperatures, the majestic waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge are rimmed with ice.
Icicles form along side the falls and ice covers the tree branches.
The area becomes a winter wonderland and a magnet for photographers.
Bring a tripod, slow down the lens, keep the lens clear of mist and focus on the icicles.
Maybe you’ll shoot a photo suitable for a Holiday card.
I think those are fantastic pictures of icy waterfalls. Thanks for taking the time to shoot and share them.
Thanks Spencer. If you get a chance this weekend, take a drive to the Gorge. I suspect the ice is still surrounding the large waterfalls. It’s a wonderful sight to see.
love the waterfall shots John, I can almost feel the cold water
It was a cold day indeed. My hands were freezing. And, the mist from the waterfalls kept freezing on my lens. What could be more fun?

Thanks! It helps to live near the Columbia River Gorge, the home of more large waterfalls than almost anywhere else in the world.
