Mt. Hood in the Winter Sunshine

A beautiful sunny Sunday morning in the City of Roses.

The weatherman teases us with a spring-like forecast of the Cascades.

Within an hour we are at Government Camp, an unbelievable 56 degrees in late January.

The road to Timberline Lodge is closed due to the parking lots being full.

Next stop is the White River Snow Park with a crystal-clear view of Mt. Hood.

Dropping from 4,200 feet to less than 2,000 feet south of Hood River the temperature had fallen to 27 degrees. Hoarfrost and fog were now the norm.

A valuable lesson – – – one can never be certain of the winter weather conditions in the Cascade Mountains.
