Petroglyphs at Horsethief Butte

When the reservoirs were formed on the Columbia River behind the large dams, existing petroglyphs on the lower rocks were submerged under the rising water.

However, some of the ancient artwork was saved and is now displayed very naturally along a walkway near Horsethief Butte.

It’s well worth a visit.

Vandals! Why do they have to rob the rest of us from access to beautiful areas?
