A Visit to Two Large Waterfalls Near Portland

About 30 miles from Portland are two easily accessible magnificent waterfalls.

On a 2 1/2 mile hike you can visit both 249-foot Latourell Falls and 100-foot Upper Latourell Falls.

Ferns, new leaves on the maple trees, devil’s club, salal – – – everything seemed to be the bright green of new growth.

Wildflowers were blooming along the trail.

The upper waterfall twists and then shoots a broad plume into the pool below.

The lower waterfall plunges off a lip of basalt into a rocky basin below.

Two for the price of one. You can’t beat that.

    • Thanks for the kind words. Latourell Falls is a great place to take visitors to the Portland area. It’s close, a short hike and has the two spectacular waterfalls.
