Return Trip to Colorado Rapids

A beautiful day on the east side of the Cascade Mountains.

I was on the way to Colorado Rapids, a scenic stretch of the Deschutes River and a well-known location to rafters and steelheaders.

Unlike the last time I hiked the three-mile trail along the River, I brought my fishing pole.

Spending a few hours in the warm sunshine fishing on the return hike, I tried still water, eddies and deeper pools to little avail.

One 12″ redside caught and released was the totality of my luck.

As fishermen often opine – – – there’s a reason it’s called fishing and not catching.

Nevertheless, another great day in Oregon.
