The Meeks Table Research Natural Area is near the William O. Douglas Wilderness.
It was a short, steep and rugged hike to the top of the mesa. It was sad to see the wildflower show was already gone for the year.
Still, it was a fun place to visit. Views extended to the Rattlesnake Mountains and McDaniel Lake.
As dry as the area is, wildlife, birds, lizards and snakes often can be seen. In fact, the larger Rattlesnake area encompasses some very good elk habitat.
I spotted much fresh elk sign but only spotted one cow early in the hike.
Great capture!
Thanks. It’s a unique place to visit.
