It was a dark, dreary, drizzly day in early winter, not a target-rich environment for a photographer.
But a photographer is always hopeful and keeps a sharp eye for potential photos.
A raincoat, Pendleton beret, a telephoto lens for the DSLR and I was ready for a 3 1/2 mile loop in the West Hills of Portland.
Robins, crows, Ana hummingbirds, spotted towhees and song sparrows spend the winter in the hills. They always make good subjects.
Buds of new flowers and colorful berries can sometimes be spotted.
Use your imagination and enjoy the outing.
