On a late February day I did the four-mile loop hike in the Tualatin Hills Nature Park a few miles west of home in the heart of the city of Beaverton.
The 222-acre Park surrounds the confluence of Cedar Mill Creek and Beaverton Creek.
Early in the hike several photographers in a group told me of an owl perched in a tree on the other side of the Park.
Due to the varied habitat, I was able to spot several different wildflowers in bloom, ducks, a bunny and many small birds.
But, I kept my eyes open for the owl. Finally, to my surprise, I spotted a barred owl mostly hidden in the branches of a Douglas fir.
I was lucky. Owls are very difficult to spot and even more difficult to get good photos of.
Very nice capture, John.
Thanks for the kind words. I always enjoy spotting owls of any kind.
Me too!
They are experts, Raewyn.
Love that photo of the owl, John. You certainly know how to find and photograph wildlife.
Thanks Debbie. The world is full of wonders around us.
