Oak Savannah.
Bottomland Forest.
Wetlands.
Virginia Lake.
Waterfowl.
Songbirds.
And, a surprise visitor. What did I spot along the trail but a large American bullfrog getting some sun. Bullfrogs are an invasive species and will eat about anything that can fit in their mouth, including fish, small mammals and birds.
All to be experienced in a double 2 1/2 mile loop hike on Sauvie Island.
Very nice images. I have not heard of Virginia Lake out there. Is it Oak Is. area or on north side?
Thanks for the kind words. Virginia Lake is on the south side about one mile past the store. Bill Sullivan calls it the Wapato Greenway. After April 16th when Oak Island opens, I often do both hikes for fun. Happy trails!
John,
I’m always amazed by your knowledge of nature. We are blessed to be the recipients of that knowledge.
Thanks & God Bless
