Virginia Lake provides great variety – – – Oak Savannah, bottomland forest, wetlands, waterfowl, songbirds and sometimes blacktail deer.
And, on a drizzly autumn day the colorful fall leaves painted the landscape with beautiful broad swirls of oranges, reds and yellows.
Amazingly enough, there wasn’t any water in the lake. It’s a shallow affair at best.
The fall rains will soon fill the wetlands back in. The lake will again be a welcome stop for migratory ducks and geese.
All to be experienced on a 2 1/2 mile loop hike on Sauvie Island.
Great pics John. Not sure I remember seeing cats out there though 🙂
