Portland’s South waterfront gained an exciting, architecturally-beautiful addition several months ago.
The $135 million, 1,700-foot Tilikum Crossing is now open. It’s the first bridge to be built across the Willamette River in over two decades.
But, in keeping with the theme of Portlandia, the cable-stayed bridge will not allow cars and trucks.
Yes, only mass transit, bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be able to use Tilikum Crossing.
On a sunny day our curiosity overcame us. We decided to park downtown and hike over the new bridge.
To give credit where credit is due, it is truly a work of art.

I always enjoy your photos so much, John, the clarity is astounding. Great to see the beautiful new bridge, and yes, so very Portland to made a bridge for pedestrians and bicyclists. It is lovely. I really like all your photos here, a lot, but the crow photo knocked my socks off. And now my feet are cold. ha. 😀
