Portland’s Hoyt Arboretum was founded in 1928 and encompasses 189 ridge-top acres.
It’s a pleasant place to visit in all seasons. More than 6,000 specimens of trees and plants from around the world grow in the arboretum.
In mid-winter we enjoyed a two-mile hike in the area. The highlight of our outing was visiting the Winter Garden.
Many flowers were in bloom, including some that I had never seen before. Sparrows and other songbirds kept us company along the way.
Another nice place to visit in the Portland area.

By the way, I notice you’ve been enjoying the lower Catherine Creek area the last several weeks like I have been. Grass widows at their prime, three types of parsley and lots of saxifrage!

Thanks for the kind words. I’m getting plenty of practice this winter taking photos in poor light conditions with lots of rain falling. I’m looking forward to some sunny days.
