Oak Island is open again for the season. On a sunny day we hiked around the Island and also followed some roads to do some exploring.
Located nearby on Sauvie Island, it’s a grand place to spot songbirds and wildflowers.
Even better, it has a bald eagle’s nest high in an oak tree near the trail.
The adults are currently sitting on the eggs. Soon there will be little eaglets to see.
As every year, I will return often until the little ones have fledged and left the nest.
Stunning photos, John, once again. That first eagle shot, he’s so stately, and oh my, Mt. St. Helens is breathtaking. Each photo from this gorgeous island is wonderful. My two favorite are the first Sturgeon Lake (trees completely surrounded by water, so unique) and the bee in the blossom (rainbows in the wings!), but they are all so lovely.
Thanks for the kind comments. It’s a wonderful place to visit in the spring.
