Mt. Washington
Sunshine and crisp air at the Pacific Crest Trail south of Santiam Pass.
I was looking forward to a grand view of Mt. Washington at the 5 1/2 mile mark, and a great view it was. The western summit of the mountain dominated the horizon.
The next destination was exploring some large meadows. Elk tracks and a few bear tracks were scattered along the trail, but the animals were successful in staying hidden from my camera’s telephoto lens.
I did spot a few mule deer, including a small buck. They seemed to know that deer season opened the following day.
A truly enjoyable day in the wilderness.

Yes, most of the time I hike in the wilderness alone. It’s much easier to spot game, and stay in the moment.
