Catherine Creek
It was the last weekend of January and what a day it was.
Sunshine and temperatures in the 40s, wildflowers to be seen, Mt. Hood in dazzling glory and beautiful vistas extending far to the east.
I truly enjoyed a nine-mile, 2,000-foot elevation gain loop hike on the east side of the Catherine Creek Canyon, mainly in open Oak Savannah, extended with a loop below the highway past a waterfall.
The small, but pretty purple grass widows were just beginning to bloom in the lower elevations. Spring is just around the corner.
As I moved into the timber on the upper ridge, there was some patchy snow in places and I spotted numerous deer tracks. This day none of the deer were in the mood to pose for a photographer though.

Mt. Hood and the Columbia River look so majestic. Wish I could have seen it from the other side of the lense. Beautiful work.
Next time you’re in the area, we’ll have to get you to Catherine Creek. It’s a grand place to visit, especially in the springtime.
That first mount hood photo is especially cool 👌🏽 this makes me really want to get out in the cold and go for a hike!
