Jackson Bottom
The Wetlands is a 635-acre wildlife preserve located within the city limits of Hillsboro, Oregon.
It is open to the public. Over 150 species of birds are sighted annually including bald eagles, herons, warblers, swallows, osprey and many more.
I had heard many good things about the Preserve over the years but had never stopped to visit. In mid-April on an overcast day I decided to give it a go.
There are about four miles of trails to be hiked. I spotted many wildflowers in bloom – – – camas lily, fawn lily, red flowing currant, and others.
I’m looking forward to my next visit.

Those swallows are majestic and just seem to jump out of the photograph. Love the fencing around the trail. I can see myself meandering there. Beautiful reflection of the pond! 150 species of birds?! Sigh. I’m living in the wrong area. 🙂
