Central Oregon
I spent several days in North-central Oregon in late May. Taking a break from hiking, I spent one sunny day doing a loop drive through Maupin and Fossil.
While I was doing a short hike near the Deschutes River, I spotted a mule deer doe and fawn. The fawns are always a delight this time of the year.
The 75-foot White River waterfall is always a treat to see. And, the Clarno Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument was a highlight.
Driving north of Fossil and heading back to The Dalles, the rock formations were amazing.
What a grand part of the world!

Ubiquitous sight in north-central Oregon
These are delightful, John! I love all of these – the waterfall, the fawn, the doe and fawn together, the overview of the river. I think I’m living in the wrong state.
There are lots of things to do and places to see in Oregon, and Washington too.
Great photos, especially the doe and fawn. You must have an awesome lens to make it look so close. I’m going to share this with a friend who fishes the river there.
