Mt. Washington
Sunshine and crisp air at the Pacific Crest Trail south of Santiam Pass.
I was looking forward to a grand view of Mt. Washington at the 5 1/2 mile mark, and a great view it was. The western summit of the mountain dominated the horizon.
The next destination was exploring some large meadows. Elk, grouse and coyote tracks were scattered along the trail, but all I spotted were several blue grouse.
I hiked a little further south to a nice view overlooking the Three Sisters and a large lava field.
A truly enjoyable day in the wilderness.

I love the gray jay and all the snow that is scattered on the ground. Beautiful and an prelude to “Winter is Coming.” 🙂 The blue of the sky peaking through the haze of clouds…quite majestic.
