Columbia River Gorge
The Memaloose Hills lie east of the little town of Mosier, Oregon.
In early spring the area is well known for its colorful wildflowers.
In late November there were no wildflowers, but it was a fun day to be hiking nevertheless. There was some sunshine and then rain showers would pass through, and in places there was a cold, gusty wind to deal with.
The oak leaves crunched under my boots as I followed the trail. Deer tracks and black bear sign were commonplace, and later I spotted seven blacktail deer having a snack.
At the higher elevations the views were far-ranging up and down the Columbia River Gorge.
I look forward to returning in several months when the wildflowers begin to bloom.

I think the rainbow is awe-inspiring. The blacktail deer is such a beautiful capture of a woodland creature.
I do like spotting the deer. And, it’s always enjoyable when they will pose.
