December Waterfalls

A few years ago I made a cold December trip to the Columbia River Gorge.

After a few days of below freezing temperatures, the majestic waterfalls were rimmed with ice.

Icicles formed alongside the falls and ice covered the tree branches.

The area was a winter wonderland and a magnet for photographers.

I brought a tripod, slowed down the lens, kept the lens clear of mist and focused on the icicles.

Maybe this year you’ll shoot a photo suitable for a Holiday card.

  1. Absolutely stunning.

  2. These are magnificent! The pictures are stunning and I love how you caught nature’s power! They also make me think of a fall I saw on the Inca Trail in Peru and of a lovely warm fire to sit by (simultaneously). 🙂
