Hawk Mountain
Sunshine and wildflowers at 5,000 feet in the Cascade Mountains.
I savored every minute of it on a wilderness hike to the summit of Hawk Mountain, the site of an old wildfire lookout facility.
Mt. Jefferson from Hawk Mtn
Gazing over the Breitenbush Drainage, Mt. Jefferson dominated the horizon. Three-fingered Jack, Olallie Butte, Mt. Washington and The Sisters were all easily visible.
I lingered around the lookout site for a long time before reluctantly beginning the hike back to the car. The colorful wildflowers on the summit were at their prime.
How lucky we are to live in such a beautiful part of the world.
