Best Laid Plans

The Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery makes a fine starting point for a six-mile loop hike on the Metolius River via the Lower Bridge.

The River in itself is amazing. It begins a few miles south emerging from basalt rock at 50,000 gallons per minute.

The bad news was the trailhead was closed due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The east side of the river was open so I took a short hike. On my hike I saw a few fly fishermen. The Metolius is a world-renowned fly fishing river.

I couldn’t help but enjoy the remaining autumn foliage along the river that had turned to golds, oranges and reds.

Not a bad day at all.

Drats! The Trailhead was closed.
