The Portland International Rose Test Garden is the oldest public garden of its kind in the United States. In early summer the delightful smells and delicate features of the roses in bloom are always a treat.
I had visited the Rose Garden several times in June and found very few roses in bloom. We suffered through a cool and wet spring causing most of the flowers to bloom behind schedule.
In early July I returned and found the roses at their peak. It was enjoyable photographing and walking in the gardens.

Leaving the Rose Garden, I followed the Wildwood Trail, then the Marquam Trail to the top of Council Crest before returning home on the seven-mile outing. On the Wildwood Trail, to my delight, I found a single tiger lily in bloom. They are one of my favorite wildflowers.
A nice way to enjoy a few hours of sunshine.

You’re usually so precise on names of plants, why not roses?
I’ve never focused on the names of domestic flowers, just wildflowers. It’s a good question though.
Rose names next time or do hey not label them? They’re gorgeous and I’d love to order some. Portland’s rose garden is fabulous.
