Autumn in the Pacific Northwest

I enjoy exploring the urban woods and surrounding areas near home.

In mid-autumn the transition to winter has begun. Instead of pretty wildflowers and butterflies, now I see coyotes, deer and a few songbirds. And, there are scary ghosts and other Halloween displays to be spotted in the front of many homes.

It’s one of my favorite times of the year.

Golden-crowned Sparrow

Wooly Bear (if the orange band is narrow, it is supposed to predict a tough winter)

Ferns and Doug Firs along the Marquam Trail

Spooky

Sure signs of fall

Hunters moon

Song Sparrows
