Happy New Year!

To paraphrase Mr. Cruise, Bryce Canyon is a target-rich environment for photographers! Spectacular, colorful rock formations are visible from many vantage points. Neither photos nor words describe the unworldly beauty of the Park.

My friend Dan and I ventured to Bryce Canyon on April Fool’s Day a few years ago.

In the early morning, we drove to the end of Scenic Drive at Rainbow Point, elevation 9,100 feet. There was still some snow on the north-facing cliffs.

I proceeded to take photos from Rainbow, Sunrise, Sunset and other Points while returning along Scenic Drive.

The visual perspective is one of looking down at the soft limestone hoodoos glowing in shades of pinks, reds, yellows, oranges and creams.

May your New Year bring you many moments of beauty and enjoyment.

Bryce hoodoos are fun to explore

  1. Gott Nytt År, Greetings from Sweden 🙂

  2. I so enjoyed this visit to Bryce, John, thank you. I would love to visit here some day, it is so unique and beautiful. Every one of these photos is beautiful, and I especially like the one where we’re inside looking out through the orange arch at the trees far below. Many happy trails to you in 2023.

  3. Happy New Year John. Thanks for sharing your hikes and photos. Hope you and your favorite model made it through the last year without health problems and make it likewise through 2023.

Do you have any travel plans for 2023? Have you, or are you reading any interesting books?

  4. Wow!  Spectacular!  Happy New Year!

  5. Thank you for sharing these photos! We were in Utah in 2021, and we both really miss the scenery. If I wasn’t so terrified of driving through mountains I’d try harder to convince my husband to move out west.
