A Wilderness Hike to Pamelia Lake

Mt. Jefferson Wilderness

On a a beautiful late summer day, I parked at the trailhead to Pamelia Lake. My forest parking permit went on the car’s dash and my day’s trail permit went in the daypack.

Soon I was in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness enjoying a pretty waterfall along the Trail. And, in areas where the sun could break through the high forest canopy, the trail was lined with beargrass and rhododendron bushes

After an enjoyable hike of a little over two miles, I began spotting the distinctive bright colors of vine maple leaves heralding the coming of auturn. I knew the lake was near.
