An Autumn Visit to Detroit

Detroit, Oregon is a small pleasant community on the western slopes of the Cascade Mountains. I spent the last weekend of October at the very comfortable Lodge at Detroit Lake.

The warm weather of Indian Summer had been replaced with heavy rains and blustery winds.

Taking advantage of some sun breaks, I hiked to Jefferson Park one day. The remainder of the time was spent enjoying the area, rain and all.

Coming home on Sunday, I dodged blown-down trees to the north of Detroit and heavy snowfall near Government Camp.

Winter is surely coming.
