Mirror Lake Provides a Grand Reflection of Mt. Hood

Mt. Hood

Mirror Lake is one of those destinations that lives up to its name. You can truly see Mt. Hood reflected in the lake’s waters.

And, unlike many hikes on and around Mt. Hood, it’s easy to drive to the trailhead. In fact, it’s right off Highway 26 in Government Camp. It is a very popular hiking destination in the summertime, but there’s plenty of parking available.

The hike itself is reasonably easy with two miles in length and roughly 700 feet of elevation gain. The trail stays in timber until reaching the lake where the views are magnificent. A one-half mile trail leads around the lake. On the north side, 5,100-foot Tom Dick & Harry Mountain looms over the lake. On the south side, Mt. Hood rises above the lake in all of its glory.

Many magazine covers have been graced with the reflection of Mt. Hood in Mirror Lake. Take the hike and enjoy it for yourself.
