Wintertime at Portland’s International Rose Garden

Roses

On a chilly but sunny day in the low 30s, I ventured to the Portland International Rose Test Garden. This historic landmark holds the title of the oldest public garden of its kind in the United States. Within its grounds, an impressive collection flourishes, boasting over 7,000 rose plants representing approximately 550 diverse varieties.

In mid-winter, the International Rose Test Garden presented a tranquil scene. While few roses were in bloom and the number of visitors was low, the serenity of the place was quite enjoyable. The garden promises a vibrant spectacle in a few months, with thousands of roses in bloom, offering a kaleidoscope of colors and intoxicating scents.
