First Day of Summer in the City

Sunshine heralds the first day of summer, creating an irresistible pull to the outdoors.

Soon we’re stretching our legs on a four-mile roundtrip hike to Council Crest, the highest point in Portland.

A few colorful wildflowers were sprinkled along the Marquam Trail, and very early thimble and salmon berries were ripening.

Many other folks were on the trail enjoying their weekend too.

The appeal of summer is universal.
