I have had many photos published in the past, and some bought at auctions.
Last year I was approached by an author’s representative asking for permission to use one of the photos from my blog for a book to be published in 2021. I approved the use of the photo, if I could receive an autographed copy of the book.
This week I received my autographed copy of the book, Rescuing the Planet by Tony Hiss. Tony is the author of fifteen books, including the award-winning The Experience of Place. You may recognize his name from being a staff writer at The New Yorker for over 30 years.
The photo of the stotting mule deer used in the book came from the following that I posted in 2012.
I spent five days in the John Day Country in October. Early in the visit I drove to the Clarno Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument.
On the way I spotted several hundred mule deer. Most of the land is privately owned and hunting is either not allowed or is allowed only by those who pay a hefty fee to the land owner. But, it was fun seeing the deer in any event.
