In early spring I decided to take a drive to the Estacada area southeast of Portland. In September huge wildfires on the west side of the Cascades almost made it to Estacada.
Last time I was in the area, the road heading east along the Clackamas River was closed due to wildfire damage. And, sure enough, it was still closed.

Heading south, I began to take the road to Wildcat Mountain at the edge of the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness. By that time it had begun snowing on the steep road. Since I had already taken off my snow tires, I decided to head back toward home.
When I arrived a pine squirrel on my fence was very interested in my appearance. I wonder if someone has been feeding him nearby.
A fun end to a nice day of exploring.
