Urban Coyotes in Portland Heights

Coyote

There are many small canyons formed by seasonal creeks on the east side of the West Hills. Some of the bigger ones have been kept as publicly-owned greenways. The Marquam and other trails climb through these greenways to the high point of the West Hills on Council Crest.

I enjoy hiking these trails, hoping to spot songbirds, deer, bunnies, squirrels and other sights in early spring. Sometimes I see coyotes looking for something to snack on. They tend not to be very good posers.
