Coyote Creek
The North Fork Umatilla Wilderness is nestled within the Blue Mountains, a short drive east of Pendleton, Oregon. During the mid-2010s, we embarked on a hike, covering approximately 2.5 miles upstream along the river that lends its name to the area, with the goal of reaching Coyote Creek. The trail led us through a rugged, somewhat overgrown canyon, offering limited vistas along the way.

The trail was definitely not well-maintained, showing signs of neglect. However, we were fortunate to discover a lovely, cool spot perfect for lunch, offering a stunning view of Coyote Creek. It was also a fantastic location for spotting a variety of butterflies.
