Chief Joseph Trail
On a three-day visit to Joseph, Oregon, in the mid-2010s, we embarked on an unforgettable hiking adventure in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Our journey commenced with the captivating Chief Joseph Trail, leading us towards the enchanting BC Falls.
Before this trip, the area’s beauty had been a frequent topic of our discussions, yet we had never had the chance to experience it firsthand. The anticipation was palpable as we stepped onto the trail, eager to witness the natural wonders that awaited us.

It was a relatively short outing, but it provided a nice taste of the area south of Wallowa Lake. Almost as interesting as the hike were the large mule deer bucks wandering around Wallowa Lake State Park, bumming food from visitors.
We stayed at the very nice Bronze Antler B&B in Joseph, which offered a comfortable and welcoming base for our explorations. The combination of the stunning natural scenery and the friendly, local experiences made it a trip to remember.
