Bald Eagles
Oak Island is open again for the season. On a warm and sunny day, I hiked around the Island a couple of times, enjoying the first day without rain for quite awhile.
It was a very pleasant five-mile outing.
Located nearby on Sauvie Island, Oak Island is a grand place to spot songbirds and wildflowers.
Even better, it has a bald eagle’s nest high in an oak tree near the trail.
The adults are staying around the nest, and there will be eggs to sit on in the near future. Soon there will be little eaglets to see.
As every year, I will return often until the little ones have fledged and left the nest.
