Portland

For the second time in a little over a week I spotted a coyote. Both were seen on city streets as I was hiking in the West Hills of Portland on the way up to Council Crest.

The first coyote was not a poser. It quickly escaped my vision before I could get my camera in action.

The second coyote was much more accommodating. It stood in the street before slowly trotting away.

With Marquam Nature Park nearby, a deep gulch in the West Hills, critters like coyotes have a place to hide.

They are clearly getting more common. At times I can hear them howling and yipping at night.

It’s always pleasant to see some urban wildlife.
