West Hills
The Tualatin Mountains are famous for the rich colors they take on every autumn. The foliage turns beautiful shades of red, orange, and gold. Many of the trees are native big-leave maples. But, it doesn’t last long. Soon the colorful leaves drop to the ground, covering the trails.
Hiking in the steep greenways and nature parks becomes more challenging. The leaves cover the rocks and exposed roots, and a little rain makes the leaves as slick as ice. But the crisp air feels good. Soon there will be frost on the trails in the early mornings.

Sunshine
When the sun shines bright on the colorful leaves, it feels like a magical time. And, with the leaves falling to the ground, it becomes much easier to spot wildlife and small birds along the trail.
Life is ever changing.
