Grasshopper
On a warm summer day in the 2010s, our journey led us to the Umatilla National Wildlife Refuge. We decided to stop and stretch our legs, eager to explore the natural beauty around us. During the fall and winter months, the refuge transforms into a haven for thousands of migrating waterfowl, creating a spectacle of nature’s abundance.

In the summer, the refuge is a vibrant ecosystem, teeming with life. Lizards and grasshoppers dart about, adding to the natural symphony.
We embarked on a scenic hike, meandering through the area for a couple of miles. The invigorating walk not only allowed us to appreciate the surroundings but also expertly whetted our appetites. The culmination of our adventure was a delightful picnic lunch, savored while observing a couple of charming western pond turtles basking in the sun.
