A Summertime Visit to the Reflecting Pool and the International Rose Garden

Reflecting Pool

On a pretty summer day, we headed over to the Portland International Rose Test Garden. It’s a special place, being the oldest public rose test garden in the U.S. The grounds are amazing, with over 7,000 rose plants from about 550 different kinds.

Before we went inside, we took a walk down to the new reflecting pool at the Washington Park Reservoir. The City did a great job with it—it’s a nice addition to the area.

Rose Garden

After our uphill trek to the Rose Garden, we were greeted by a stunning display of blooming roses. It was such a treat! While these photos give you a taste, they just can’t do justice to the amazing colors and the wonderful scents that fill the air at the Garden.

And guess what? We even spotted one of the Wildwood Crows. “Wildwood: Follow the Crows” is a free public art trail in Portland that showcases 30 almost six-foot-tall, hand-painted crow sculptures.
