The New Year always brings thoughts of new beginnings and wonders to come. As I hike through the West Hills of Portland, I endure days of cold, arctic air from the north and enjoy periodic times of warm, sunny air from the south.
It’s too early for wildflowers, but I typically spot a few crows, songbirds and squirrels. Sometimes I catch glimpses of coyotes and deer.
It’s both a time of contemplation and renewal.
