Spectacular Wilderness Trailhead at Jack Lake

Canyon Creek Meadows Trail

On a sunny summer morning, friend David and I drove to Jack Lake. The last seven miles were on a rocky, dirt and washboard road.

The Lake is only a few miles east of Three Fingered Jack. Since there was little breeze, the mountain’s 7,841-foot jagged summit’s reflection in the Lake was crystal clear.

We hiked past the Lake and into the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness on the Canyon Creek Meadows Trail. After awhile we reached a small pond by the trail.

On the way back to the trailhead, there was a view of Mt. Jefferson to the north through some wildfire-damaged trees. What a nice place to enjoy a wilderness setting.
