Larch Mountain
Sherrard Point sits on the 4,100-foot summit of an ancient, eroded central volcanic plug named Larch Mountain. It’s in the west end of the Columbia River Gorge.
On a clear and sunny day, five majestic glaciated Cascade volcanoes can be seen. They are Mount St. Helens, Mount Rainier, Mount Adams, Mount Hood and Mount Jefferson.
To add to the enjoyment, there are also spectacular views of the Columbia River Gorge, including well-known features like Nesmith Point, Devils Point, Benson Plateau and Mt. Defiance.

The good news is that Sherrard Point is easily accessible from the Portland area. From Troutdale, it’s about a 22 mile drive to a large parking area. There is a short pavied path gaining about 150 feet to reach the summit.
When guests come to town, this is a very pleasant destination to take them. It showcases the beauty of the Pacifice Northwest.
