White Pelicans

It’s always interesting to experience the beauty of the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge, an exceptional urban sanctuary located just southwest of Portland, Oregon. Since 1992, dedicated efforts by the Federal government and volunteers have successfully restored this vital floodplain in the Tualatin River Basin to its natural state.

On a beautiful summer day, we explored the refuge’s four-mile perimeter trail and were delighted by the variety of bird species thriving in their habitat.

Wildflowers

We were able to see a bald eagle, egrets, ducks and white pelicans. Although, most were too far away for good photographs. The landscape was highlighted by colorful wildflowers, making the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge a wonderful place to visit.
